17-7-2023 (BANGKOK) The city of Shenzhen, China, in collaboration with RX Greater China (RX), is actively promoting cooperation between Chinese and Thai automakers in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market. As part of this effort, Thai automobile manufacturers have received a warm invitation to participate in the esteemed Automotive World China (AWC) 2023 event, scheduled to take place in Shenzhen from October 11th to 13th, 2023.
Mr. Bruce Xu, the Project Manager of RX Greater China, announced the partnership between the Shenzhen City government and RX to organize AWC 2023. This influential automotive manufacturing event will encompass the entire NEV and Internal Combustion Vehicle (ICV) industry chain. With the theme “Define the Future of Automotive Manufacturing,” AWC 2023 aims to showcase the latest technologies and solutions for NEVs and ICVs, covering a wide range of components such as IC chips, electronic devices, lightweight materials, manufacturing lines, and smart factories. The event will feature over 500 exhibitors, including industry leaders like BYD, Siemens, Bosch, Valeo, Neolithic, Autosar, Fivotai, HAN’S LASER, and AutoX. AWC 2023 aims to help automotive manufacturers discover innovative applications, enhance smart automation manufacturing capabilities, optimize the supply chain, and develop highly competitive NEVs and ICVs in this rapidly evolving market.
China has maintained its position as the leading center for automobile production and the largest automotive consumer market globally for 14 consecutive years. In the first quarter of this year, China became the world’s largest vehicle exporter, shipping a total of 1,070,000 units, including 248,000 units of NEVs. While Chinese-manufactured ICVs do not significantly differ in terms of brands, technology, and quality, the NEV sector in China has experienced remarkable development and growth, surpassing conventional vehicles.
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2023, China produced 7,058,000 NEVs, with sales reaching 6,887,000 units—an impressive increase of 97% and 94%, respectively, compared to the previous year. This surge in NEV production in China is driven by Asian consumers’ desire for convenience and intelligent driving experiences, as they perceive cars as extensions of their homes. As a result, China has focused on developing AI technology and advancing autonomous driving systems.
AWC 2023 aims to be the most comprehensive exhibition in the industry, featuring live demonstrations and test drives of vehicles on actual roads to showcase technological excellence. The event will also host over 20 seminars, where industry thought leaders will share their visions, inspiring the future of automotive manufacturing. It is expected that more than 30,000 industry professionals from around the world, including vehicle manufacturers, automotive component suppliers, and system designers, will participate in the event. Additionally, over 1,500 international participants from East Asia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Europe are anticipated to attend. AWC 2023 aims to facilitate business negotiations and discussions among numerous partners, fostering collaborations and investments in the NEV and ICV industry.
For Thai participants, AWC 2023 offers a platform to engage in negotiations and cooperation with Chinese industry professionals. It provides an opportunity to strengthen supply chains and explore collaboration prospects through interactions with Tier 1 and Tier 2 component manufacturers. Specially tailored activities for Thai participants, such as Thailand Country Day, will offer an overview of the Thai market and facilitate international collaboration opportunities. Furthermore, the Thailand Board of Investment may present investment policies to the Chinese industry, and participants will have the chance to visit manufacturing facilities.
AWC 2023 is scheduled to take place at the Shenzhen New International Expo Center in Shenzhen, China, from October 11th to 13th, 2023.
