13-1-2024 (BANGKOK) An incident unfolded on Friday night in the Damnoen Saduak district of Ratchaburi, as a security guard at the Ratchaburi Power Plant, operated by SET-listed Ratch Group Plc, went on a shooting rampage, claiming three lives and leaving another critically injured.
The police were alerted to the scene just after 9 pm, responding to reports of multiple gunshots at the power plant facility in tambon Ban Rai.
Upon arrival, a team of police officers and medical personnel discovered three victims on the road. The deceased were identified as 55-year-old Pichet, 50-year-old Chanarop, and 52-year-old Chakrit. Their family names have been withheld for privacy reasons. Pichet and Chanarop held managerial positions at the plant, while Chakrit served as a security guard trainer.
Another staff member, 50-year-old Sathit, sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The alleged perpetrator, identified as Boonlert, the head of security for the facility, was swiftly identified by the police. Boonlert’s guard company had reportedly recently experienced a reduction in responsibilities after the plant engaged an additional security provider.
Reports suggest that Boonlert, during an argument with colleagues over changes in wages, became enraged and suddenly opened fire at them using a 9mm pistol.
After the shooting, Boonlert attempted to evade the police in a pickup truck but was apprehended at his nearby residence.
