2-3-2024 (SINGAPORE) The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has launched a search operation for an individual who fell overboard following a collision between two pleasure craft off Pulau Hantu. The incident took place on Saturday, March 2, at approximately 1:30 pm, as stated by MPA in an official announcement.
Of the five passengers who were thrown overboard during the collision, four have been successfully rescued, while one remains unaccounted for, according to the authority. In response, MPA has deployed patrol craft to the area and is coordinating search efforts in collaboration with the Police Coast Guard and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
To aid in the search, MPA is issuing navigational broadcasts to nearby vessels, urging them to maintain vigilance and report any sightings of individuals in the water.
Situated south of Singapore’s mainland, near Pulau Bukom, Pulau Hantu serves as the location where the incident occurred.
MPA defines pleasure craft as vessels exclusively intended for sport or recreational purposes within Singapore’s port waters.
