29-4-2024 (RIYADH) Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also serving as Prime Minister, has expressed his intention to conduct an official visit to Malaysia by the end of this year, according to Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar revealed that Crown Prince Mohammed conveyed this during a dialogue with several world leaders, including the Prime Ministers of Egypt, Jordan, and Pakistan, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Meeting held in Riyadh on Sunday (April 28).
“He (Crown Prince Mohammed) mentioned his intention to visit Malaysia by the end of this year; however, the date has not been finalized yet,” Anwar stated.
Highlighting the significance of the visit, Anwar noted that Crown Prince Mohammed emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to substantial investments in Malaysia, aiming to enhance bilateral ties between Putrajaya and Riyadh.
“His (Crown Prince’s) earnest desire for Malaysia’s advancement was evident during our discussions, and Saudi ministers and companies have expressed similar enthusiasm,” Anwar remarked during a press briefing at the conclusion of his three-day working visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday (April 29).
Anwar further disclosed that he had entrusted Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz with coordinating the matter. Tengku Zafrul confirmed that Saudi Trade Minister Dr Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi would visit Malaysia the following week.
The conflict in Gaza also featured prominently in discussions between Anwar and Crown Prince Mohammed, with Anwar underscoring Malaysia’s unwavering stance on the issue.
“I emphasized the necessity for Islamic countries to unite against Israel’s aggression in Gaza, urging concerted action to address this humanitarian crisis,” Anwar affirmed.
