6-3-2024 (BANGKOK) Authorities in Phuket Province, specifically the Patong police, apprehended two Russian women, aged 18 and 23, following an investigation that uncovered their involvement in clandestine sex trade activities.
On March 4, 2024, around 10:00 p.m., a police search was conducted in the hotel room of the Russian visitors situated on Phra Metta Road, Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District, Phuket Province. During the operation, authorities confiscated various items, including 14,000 baht in 1,000-baht bills found in the possession of 18-year-old Ms. Anna and another 13,000 baht carried by 23-year-old Ms. Olga.
Subsequently, after 11:00 p.m., the suspects, along with the seized evidence, were transported to the Patong Police Station for further interrogation. The Russian women are now facing charges related to engaging in prostitution activities, deemed illegal under Thai law.
The police station chiefs under the Phuket Provincial Police, in adherence to the policies of the National Police Chief and the Region 8 Commander, convened a meeting on March 4. During this gathering, warnings were issued regarding foreigners engaging in criminal activities in Phuket Province, particularly involvement in illegal employment.
Law enforcement officers have received instructions to ensure the dissemination of information to strictly adhere to legal procedures in the region. This includes promptly taking action, such as ordering and enforcing the provision of foreign information, when offenses are committed.
