11-10-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A 32-year-old Russian woman found herself in custody after what appeared to be a routine dog walk took an unexpected turn in Setia Alam, a suburb of Shah Alam, Malaysia.
The event, which unfolded on Wednesday afternoon, saw the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, allegedly engaging in indecent behaviour and obstructing traffic, much to the alarm of local residents.
Shah Alam’s Officer in Charge of Police District (OCPD), Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, shed light on the situation, stating, “We were alerted by concerned citizens about a woman exhibiting strange behaviour and seated in the middle of the road in Setia Alam at approximately 4:50 pm.”

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the woman in an inebriated state, displaying aggressive behaviour. Her canine companion, initially accompanying her, has since been placed in the care of the Shah Alam City Council.
Investigations revealed that the woman, believed to be a Russian national, lacked proper identification documents. “Our initial findings suggest she entered Malaysia four years ago on holiday. However, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic seemingly disrupted her plans to return home,” AC Mohd Iqbal explained.
The woman’s predicament was further complicated by insufficient funds to facilitate her return journey. Subsequent medical tests yielded positive results for THC, the primary psychoactive component in cannabis.
In light of these developments, authorities have remanded the woman until 22nd October. AC Mohd Iqbal added, “While she has no prior criminal record in Malaysia, we are conducting thorough investigations into the matter.”
