23-3-2025 (KYIV) In a devastating wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine, multiple civilian casualties have been reported, highlighting the ongoing intensity of the conflict despite recent diplomatic overtures.
The southeastern industrial hub of Zaporizhzhia bore the brunt of more than ten separate attacks late Friday evening, claiming the lives of a teenage girl and her parents whilst leaving a dozen others wounded, including an infant. Governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed the tragic toll as emergency services combed through the wreckage.
First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko condemned the assault, characterising it as another instance of “Russian terrorism” devastating Ukrainian families.
The violence extended to Ukraine’s northeastern frontier, where the rural community of Krasnopillia in Sumy region endured six precision-guided bomb strikes, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries. Simultaneously, the embattled Donetsk region, where Russian forces continue their westward push, witnessed nine casualties alongside two deaths amidst renewed hostilities.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones penetrated Russian airspace, striking a residential high-rise in Rostov-on-Don, whilst neighbouring Voronezh reportedly thwarted over ten unmanned aerial vehicles. Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed minor injuries from the Rostov incident.
Recent diplomatic efforts yielded limited progress when Presidents Putin and Trump agreed to a month-long moratorium on energy infrastructure attacks. However, this fell short of Ukraine’s acceptance of a comprehensive ceasefire proposal backed by Washington.
