13-8-2023 (MOSCOW) Russian scientists in Moscow have initiated the processing of the initial data received from the Luna-25 spacecraft after successfully activating its scientific equipment for the first time. Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, reported this development on Sunday (Aug 13), marking a significant step forward in their lunar exploration efforts.
The Luna-25 spacecraft continues its journey towards Earth’s natural satellite, the Moon. According to Roscosmos, all systems on the automatic station are functioning optimally, ensuring stable communication and a positive energy balance. This successful update was shared via a statement released on the Telegram messaging app.
Just two days prior to this announcement, Russia launched its groundbreaking moon-landing spacecraft. This mission marks a remarkable achievement, as it is the first moon-bound spacecraft to be launched by Russia in 47 years. The spacecraft aims to achieve a historic soft landing on the lunar south pole, a region that is believed to contain valuable reservoirs of water ice.
The newly acquired measurement data from the lunar journey has already been collected and handed over to the project’s scientific team for analysis and processing, Roscosmos confirmed. This significant development underscores the progressive nature of the mission and showcases the level of scientific detail being pursued by the Russian space agency.
