17-6-2023 (LONDON) Romeo Beckham, the son of David Beckham, has officially joined Brentford’s ‘B team’ following his impressive loan stint with the Premier League club. The 20-year-old midfielder agreed to a one-year contract with Brentford’s second-string side after departing from MLS club Inter Miami.
During the latter half of the previous season, Beckham showcased his skills while on loan with Brentford B. He made 15 appearances and played a pivotal role in helping the team secure the Premier League Cup. Additionally, he demonstrated his scoring ability by netting a goal against National League outfit Wealdstone in the Middlesex Senior Cup.
Neil MacFarlane, the head coach of Brentford B, expressed his satisfaction with Beckham’s progress and hopes that the young talent will continue to develop in west London. MacFarlane praised Beckham’s performance in the recent match against Manchester City, highlighting the growth he has displayed during his loan spell.
“We are delighted to have had Romeo as part of our squad since January, and he has made a fantastic contribution to the group,” said MacFarlane. “His recent performance against Manchester City demonstrated the knowledge and skills he has acquired during his time with us. We have been working on his overall game, both in possession and out of possession, and we are excited to have him back next season to continue his development with us.”
Romeo Beckham follows in the footsteps of his renowned father, David Beckham, who enjoyed a remarkable football career playing for esteemed clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and the England national team. David Beckham is also the co-owner of Inter Miami, the club Romeo departed from prior to joining Brentford B.
Inter Miami made headlines recently with the signing of Lionel Messi, the Argentine football legend who left Paris Saint-Germain to embark on a new chapter with the MLS team.
