30-11-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A female restaurant manager was fatally stabbed at a Chinese eatery in a bustling shopping centre opposite the Cheras Police Headquarters, sending shoppers and diners fleeing in terror.
The attack occurred at approximately 4 pm when an assailant entered the establishment and stabbed the victim in the abdomen with what witnesses described as a sharp weapon. The brutal assault, which took place in full view of horrified customers, triggered panic throughout the premises.
The victim, who had served as the restaurant’s manager for roughly two years, was rushed to hospital by emergency services following frantic calls from bystanders. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Wong Lee Ming told reporters that a major manhunt is currently underway. “We are treating this as a murder investigation and are pursuing all available leads,” he said. “Our forensic teams are meticulously examining the crime scene.”
In the immediate aftermath, police cordoned off the area with yellow tape and detained eight restaurant staff members for questioning. Investigators are scrutinising CCTV footage from both the restaurant and surrounding areas, while police dogs have been deployed to assist in gathering forensic evidence.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with one witness, who wished to remain anonymous, describing scenes of chaos as diners fled the establishment. “Everything happened so quickly. People were screaming and running in all directions. It was terrifying,” the witness recalled.
