24-5-2023 (Kuala Lumpur) The intense bidding frenzy for the coveted “FF” number plate series has drawn attention to entrepreneur Ivon Wong, whose staggering bid of RM909,999 for the sought-after FF9 plate captured the curiosity of netizens.
Social media users were intrigued by Wong’s substantial offer and questioned the reasons behind it. However, Wong, 35, clarified that she did not ultimately secure the number plate as she was outbid by RM2,000, with another bidder offering RM911,999.
“People have been asking me about my bid for the number plate,” Wong shared. She explained that the FF9 plate held significant personal meaning to her as a way to commemorate her beloved pet, Fei Fei, who passed away three years ago. “It represents cherished memories and the bond that I shared with my dog Fei Fei,” she expressed.
Wong further revealed that she already had two cars—a McLaren 720S and a Mercedes—with a “9” on their number plates, underscoring her connection to the number.
Recalling Fei Fei’s loyalty as a faithful companion, Wong shared heartfelt sentiments. “When I returned home from work or faced difficult times, Fei Fei was always there to greet me,” she reminisced.
Despite not securing the FF9 number plate, Wong expressed no sadness over the outcome. Instead, she remains dedicated to utilizing her platform to raise awareness about mental health, a cause she holds close to her heart.
Coming from a single-parent household and a financially challenged background, Wong emphasized that her early experiences instilled in her the values of perseverance, hard work, and resourcefulness. In line with her strong beliefs, her company recently launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program called “Peace of Mind,” which aims to support mental health awareness and relaxation techniques.
The special “FF” number plate series was introduced to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Road Transport Department (JPJ). The online bidding concluded on May 19, with Transport Minister Anthony Loke announcing on Monday that the series had generated a record revenue of RM34,296,327.
