14-6-2023 (MADRID) Real Madrid officially announced the acquisition of England international midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. The talented midfielder has signed a six-year contract with the club, with the initial transfer fee reported to be 103 million euros.
While Borussia Dortmund had already confirmed the sale in a statement last week, Real Madrid chose to make the deal public through an official statement on their club website.
“Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jude Bellingham, who will be part of our club for the next six seasons,” the statement read.
The statement also revealed that Bellingham’s official presentation as a new Real Madrid player would take place on Thursday, June 15, at 12pm at Real Madrid City. Following the presentation, Bellingham will address the media.
Nineteen-year-old Bellingham began his professional career with Birmingham City before joining Borussia Dortmund three years ago. During his time with Dortmund, he made an impressive 132 appearances for the club, narrowly missing out on the Bundesliga title on the final day of last season.
Expressing his gratitude to Borussia Dortmund and their fans, Bellingham wrote a heartfelt message on the Borussia Dortmund website: “Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything over the past three years. It’s been an honor to wear your jersey in both memorable and ordinary moments. While I look forward to my next chapter, I will always cherish the journey we had together. Once Borussia, always Borussia. Best wishes for the future.”
Bellingham’s arrival marks Real Madrid’s third signing of the summer transfer window. The club had previously secured left back Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano and welcomed back Brahim Diaz after his successful loan spell at AC Milan.
