10-11-2023 (BANGKOK) Tragedy struck in Rangae district on Thursday afternoon as a landmine explosion claimed the life of a ranger and left two others with minor injuries, according to local authorities.
The incident took place at approximately 1:05pm while a team of rangers from Ranger Company 4503 was conducting a patrol in a forest near Hulu Pare, specifically in the Moo 1 village of tambon Tanyongmat. The unfortunate event occurred when one of the team members inadvertently stepped on a landmine, triggering a devastating explosion.
The deceased ranger has been identified as Waehama Wani, hailing from Sungai Padi district in Narathiwat. His brave colleagues, Sobri Mawa and Asri Salaemae, both residents of Rangae, sustained slight injuries in the blast.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Wimutti Amnakmanee, the district chief of Rangae, promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
