8-8-2023 (BANGKOK) Prince Vacharaesorn Vivacharawongse, the second son of His Majesty the King, has made a highly anticipated return to Thailand after residing abroad for 27 years, much to the delight of the Thai people.
A brief 30-second video capturing Prince Vacharaesorn, 42, emerging from the arrival terminal at Suvarnabhumi International Airport went viral on social media on Monday. In the footage, he can be seen waving to a group of enthusiastic Thais who had gathered to welcome him. With a warm smile, Prince Vacharaesorn expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you very much,” before making his way towards the exit.
According to reports, Prince Vacharaesorn departed from John F. Kennedy Airport in the United States on August 5, boarding a Cathay Pacific flight bound for Hong Kong. From there, he took a connecting flight that arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Sunday evening.
Upon his arrival, Prince Vacharaesorn proceeded to a hotel located in the heart of Bangkok, where he is expected to stay for approximately one week. Notably, the Royal Household Bureau did not make any prior announcement regarding his visit.
On Monday morning, Prince Vacharaesorn visited Wat Ratchabophit Sathitmahasimaram Ratchaworawihan in the Phra Nakhon district. There, he paid his respects to the Supreme Patriarch. Subsequently, he made a stop at the City Pillar to offer his homage before continuing on to Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram and Wat Hong Rattanaram Ratchaworawihan temples. At the request of individuals who recognized him, Prince Vacharaesorn graciously posed for photographs during his temple visits.
Prince Vacharaesorn is the second son of His Majesty the King and his former consort, Sujarinee Vivacharawongse. His younger sister is Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who resides in Thailand. The four brothers, including Prince Vacharaesorn, received their primary education in Thailand before relocating to the United States.
Prince Vacharaesorn holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in law from Stetson University College of Law in the United States. For the past 27 years, he has resided in New York, where he works as a legal counselor at a prominent law firm. During his time in the US, he has actively participated in events promoting Thai traditions and culture, joining fellow Thai expatriates in showcasing the rich heritage of their homeland.
