13-8-2023 (SINGAPORE) The radiant visage of Prince Harry illuminated the polo field as he donned the saddle for a charitable polo game in Singapore on Saturday (Aug 12).
Leading his team, Royal Salute Sentebale, the Duke of Sussex engaged in a spirited contest against the Singapore Polo Club. The arena saw the convergence of Argentine polo luminary and Harry’s close confidant, Nacho Figueras, donning the colors of the home side at the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup. The match culminated in a thrilling 7-7 draw, with the coveted trophy being evenly shared by the competing factions.
The proceeds from this riveting encounter will be channelled towards Prince Harry’s esteemed Sentebale foundation, a collaborative venture initiated alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. This foundation stands resolutely in support of the young populace contending with the challenges of HIV and AIDS across the African continent.
Reflecting on the annual fundraising spectacle, which has cumulatively amassed a staggering £11 million (US$13.9 million), Prince Harry expounded, “Our endeavours remain steadfastly tethered to our core mission, and in homage to our dearly departed mothers, we are driven to ensure that all the children and youth residing in southern Africa are empowered, in robust health, and capable of pursuing their aspirations and aspirations.”
The prince’s previous sojourn to Singapore was etched in 2017 when he showcased his equestrian prowess on the polo field to amass financial support for the very same charitable cause.
The event drew a distinguished crowd, with around 260 attendees gracing the occasion, including the esteemed presence of former All Blacks rugby luminary, Dan Carter.
