20-12-2023 (JAKARTA) President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, expressed his satisfaction with the significant interest shown by local investors in contributing to the development of the new capital city, known as IKN Nusantara, in East Kalimantan. During the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nusantara Superblock in IKN, Jokowi acknowledged the crucial support provided by investors from East Kalimantan.
Jokowi commended the substantial investment value brought by local investors, amounting to Rp3 trillion, for major developments in the Nusantara Superblock. This investment will cover the development of a 40 thousand square meter shopping center, a five-star hotel with 215 rooms, a four-star hotel with 200 rooms, eight apartment towers, two office towers, an international school, and an entertainment venue occupying 7.5 hectares of land.
The president expressed his hopes that the infrastructure design funded by local investors would be on par with those developed by investors from Jakarta. He urged local investors to consult with the head of the IKN Authority to ensure the quality of the infrastructure design.
Jokowi emphasized the importance of adopting a green building approach in constructing the infrastructure, aiming for an environmentally friendly and sustainable development throughout IKN. He highlighted that the concept of the new capital city would be distinct from other capitals, and the infrastructure design would be curated by Ridwan Kamil, the appointed head of the IKN Authority.
Furthermore, Jokowi expressed optimism that the infrastructure projects in IKN would contribute to the economic growth of East Kalimantan Province, particularly in Balikpapan, while creating numerous job opportunities for the local community.
The Nusantara Superblock, situated in the Central Government Core Area 1A, stands in front of the Point Zero monument, marking the national axis area. This consortium project, consisting of a shopping center, apartments, and three hotels, has an estimated value of Rp5 trillion, making it a significant and captivating feature of IKN with ambitions to become a world-class capital city.
