1-7-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A police patrol car responding to a brawl incident in the Shah Alam Section 7 commercial center of Kuala Lumpur was involved in a collision with a Honda Civic sedan, leaving two officers injured and the patrol car severely damaged.
The accident occurred on the evening of June 29th at approximately 8:10 pm, as the police vehicle, with its beacon lights activated, was rushing to the scene of the reported altercation at a commercial center in the Taman Serdang Jaya area.
According to Shah Alam district Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Iqbal, the incident has come to the attention of the authorities after the video of the accident went viral on social media. Preliminary investigations reveal that the police patrol car, while responding to the call, had proceeded through a red light when it was struck by the Honda Civic, which was traveling straight on a green light.
“The accident resulted in the left side of the police patrol car being severely damaged, while the front of the Honda Civic was also heavily impacted. Two of the police officers, both aged 33, sustained injuries to their faces, hands, and heads, though the 24-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was unharmed,” Mohamed Iqbal stated in a press release.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, invoking Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers negligent driving causing an accident.
