26-7-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A 26-year-old police officer appeared in court today charged with the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, a young woman whose disappearance and subsequent death have gripped the nation.
Lance Corporal Alif Monjani, stationed at the Slim River police station in Perak, arrived at the Kuala Kubu Bharu magistrates’ court under heavy security. The sombre atmosphere was palpable as representatives from both the victim’s and the accused’s families were seen entering the courtroom.
The tragic saga began on 10th July when Nur Farah Kartini, a 25-year-old car rental agent, was reported missing after delivering a vehicle to a customer. For five agonising days, her fate remained unknown until the grim discovery of her body in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, on 15th July.
As Alif Monjani stood before Sessions Court Judge Nurul Mardhiah Redza, the gravity of the charges became clear. The case, framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. As such, no plea was expected to be recorded during today’s proceedings.
