8-6-2023 (MANILA) Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos has lauded the crucial role of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) in the country’s economic growth. Speaking during the oath-taking ceremony for the new officers of the FFCCCII at the presidential palace, Marcos emphasized the importance of the federation’s partnership with the government in revitalizing and transforming the economy during this critical period in the country’s history.
“Now, more than ever, we call for our (government’s) reliable partnership with the federation as we strive to revitalize and transform our economy in this critical period of our history,” Marcos said.
Marcos also assured the federation of his administration’s support, pledging to listen to the concerns of businessmen and facilitate business activities. He thanked the FFCCCII for its efforts in linking the Philippines and China over the years, particularly as the two nations celebrate the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this month. The federation has been instrumental in attracting investments and creating economic opportunities that benefit the people of the Philippines, Marcos said.
The FFCCCII was established in 1954 and is composed of 170 Filipino-Chinese business organizations. Its mission is to promote economic and trade relations between the Philippines and China, as well as to encourage the growth of Filipino-Chinese businesses. The federation has played a significant role in the development of the Philippine economy, having been involved in various initiatives, including the construction of infrastructure, the promotion of tourism, and the support of small and medium-sized enterprises.
As the Philippines continues its efforts to recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the partnership between the government and the private sector, particularly with organizations like the FFCCCII, is crucial in driving economic growth and development.
