25-7-2023 (MANILA) Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos embarked on a three-day visit to Malaysia on Tuesday to explore and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
In his departure speech at a Manila airbase, Marcos expressed his belief that the present time offers a great opportunity to bolster the relationship between the Philippines and Malaysia. Both nations, as significant economies in Southeast Asia, have a history of close economic ties and strong bilateral relations spanning several decades.
During his visit to Kuala Lumpur, Marcos is scheduled to have an audience with the King of Malaysia and hold meetings with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and local business leaders. The purpose of these meetings is to showcase potential trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The Philippine President emphasized that his visit will primarily focus on key areas such as agriculture, food security, digital economy, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Additionally, he aims to explore new avenues for cooperation between the Philippines and Malaysia.
“The main objective of this visit is to foster synergies with Malaysia, allowing the Philippines to tap into the potential of this market,” Marcos stated confidently.
