27-4-2024 (MANILA) The Philippine National Police (PNP) has revoked the gun permit of fugitive doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy, as confirmed by PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo during a briefing with members of the press on Friday.
Fajardo stated that PNP Chief Rommel Marbil approved the recommendation to revoke Quiboloy’s license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF), a decision previously suggested by the PNP’s Firearms and Explosives Office.
The regulations governing the acquisition of an LTOPF stipulate that applicants for a gun permit must not have any prior convictions or be facing charges in a pending criminal case.
According to the PNP, Quiboloy is in possession of 19 firearms, with one of them holding an expired license since March.
It is worth noting that Quiboloy has arrest warrants issued by courts in Pasig City and Davao City. The warrant from Davao City pertains to charges of child and sexual abuse, while the Pasig Court issued charges for non-bailable trafficking of persons.
In addition to these court cases, Quiboloy also faces a warrant of arrest from the Senate following his failure to appear for an investigation into alleged abuses within his “church,” the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
On March 7, Central District of California Judge Terry Hatter Jr. in the United States ordered the unsealing of arrest warrants against Quiboloy and his co-accused. This action was taken at the request of the United States Attorney Criminal Division overseeing Quiboloy’s case, which includes charges of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, coercion, sex trafficking of children, conspiracy, and cash smuggling.
Moreover, the preacher is listed in the FBI’s most wanted list.
