20-11-2023 (SAN FRANCISCO) Former CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, and ex-President Greg Brockman made an unexpected appearance at the company’s San Francisco headquarters on Sunday (Nov 19), following an invitation from interim CEO Mira Murati, as reported by The Information.
Altman’s return is under discussion, even as he contemplates the possibility of launching a new artificial intelligence (AI) venture, according to a Reuters report on Sunday. The sudden termination of Altman by the company’s board on Friday, a prominent figure in the realm of generative AI, sent shockwaves through the tech industry.
While OpenAI declined to provide specific details in response to Reuters, Altman shared an image on Sunday via the X messaging platform, portraying himself with an OpenAI guest badge and the caption: “first and last time I ever wear one of these.”
The abrupt dismissal of Altman raised concerns and discontent among current and former employees, particularly regarding the potential impact on an upcoming $86 billion share sale.
Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s former president and co-founder, also made an appearance at the office on Sunday, according to The Information. Having resigned from the board as chairman as part of the recent management shuffle, Brockman officially left the company on Friday.
