24-10-2024 (SAN ANTONIO) A routine visit to SeaWorld San Antonio took an unexpected turn when an orca provided spectators with more than the usual aquatic entertainment, creating a memorable albeit unsavoury moment that has since gone viral on social media.
The incident, captured on video by visitor Alex Bermudez, shows the killer whale releasing waste in its glass tank before performing a dramatic leap that splashed contaminated water onto unsuspecting onlookers. The 26-second footage, which has garnered over 469,000 views on TikTok, documents both the initial release and the subsequent splash that caught visitors off guard.
The video captures a young boy’s startled reaction as he turns to the camera asking, “Did it poop?” moments before the whale’s energetic jump sent waves of murky water towards the viewing area. One particularly unfortunate passerby found himself in the wrong place at precisely the wrong moment as he walked past the tank during the splash.
The incident has sparked considerable reaction online, with many viewers suggesting the whale’s actions were purposeful. Social media comments ranged from sympathetic to humorous, with some interpreting the display as a form of protest against captivity.
Bermudez, who shared the footage, explained that visitors had no time to react to the impending splash, noting, “We had no idea he was going to come back to splash us, it happened too fast.”
