4-4-2024 (JAKARTA) Nvidia, in collaboration with Indonesia’s telecommunications firm PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, is set to establish a $200 million artificial intelligence centre in Central Java in 2024, as announced by the communication minister.
Budi Arie Setiadi revealed in a statement that the AI centre could encompass telecommunications infrastructure or serve as a hub for human resources development. The facility is slated to be located in Surakarta city.
The CEO of Indosat shared details of the investment plan with Surakarta mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who also happens to be Indonesia’s vice president-elect and the son of the incumbent President Joko Widodo.
Explaining the choice of Surakarta as the site for the centre, he remarked, “Why in Surakarta? Because they are ready, have good human resources and 5G infrastructure.”
