17-12-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A disturbing case of child abuse has emerged from a nursery in Puncak Alam, where an 11-month-old baby boy suffered injuries allegedly inflicted by a staff member, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old female teacher.
The incident came to light when the infant’s mother collected him from the nursery, discovering concerning injuries including redness and swelling on his right cheek and ear. Initially, nursery staff attributed the injuries to an accidental fall from a table.
However, in a significant turn of events, the nursery manager later contacted the child’s father that evening, revealing that a staff member had actually pinched the baby, causing the injuries. The father promptly reported the incident to authorities and sought medical attention for his son at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Superintendent Mohd Hafeez, Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, confirmed that the police received the father’s report at approximately 6:15 pm on the 13th. The following day, at around 6:50 pm, officers apprehended the suspect, a teacher with three years of experience at the facility.
“The suspect has been remanded until the 18th of this month to facilitate our investigation,” Superintendent Hafeez stated. “We are thoroughly investigating this matter under Section 31(1) of the Children Act 2001.”
Sources indicate that the entire incident was captured by the nursery’s CCTV system, which will serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation. The suspect was subsequently brought to Shah Alam Court for remand proceedings.
