16-9-2023 (MOSCOW) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was given a firsthand look at Russia’s advanced hypersonic ‘Kinzhal’ missiles and strategic bombers during his visit on Saturday, according to a report by the Interfax news agency. The demonstration was conducted by Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, who met Kim upon his arrival in Russia’s far eastern Primorsky region.
During the meeting, Shoigu presented Kim with three strategic bombers: the Tu-160, Tu-95, and Tu-22M3. These aircraft are known for their significant capabilities and are part of Russia’s formidable military arsenal.
The visit comes on the heels of Kim’s inspection of a Russian fighter jet factory, which is currently subjected to Western sanctions. This visit has raised concerns among Washington and its allies, who fear that it could potentially enhance Russia’s military presence in Ukraine and bolster Pyongyang’s missile program.
Earlier in the week, Kim held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where the two leaders engaged in discussions regarding military affairs, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and the deepening cooperation between their nations.
In response to inquiries from reporters, President Putin assured that Russia has no intentions of violating any agreements. However, he emphasized the country’s commitment to developing relations with North Korea. Notably, no official agreements were signed during Kim’s visit, neither in the realm of military affairs nor any other topic, as confirmed by Putin’s spokesperson.
