29-8-2023 (SINGAPORE) A disturbing video has surfaced on social media, alleging the mistreatment of a child by a teacher at a Kinderland preschool located at Sunshine Place in Choa Chu Kang. The video, posted on the morning of August 29, has sparked outrage and prompted a police report.
In the video, the teacher can be seen smacking a boy on the head multiple times and pushing him away, preceded by her roughly handling a water bottle. Another child is seen seated between her legs.
The Singapore Police Force has confirmed that a report has been lodged, and investigations into the incident are underway.
The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has also taken the matter seriously and initiated an investigation after being alerted to the video on the same day. ECDA emphasized its commitment to addressing any case of child mismanagement promptly and thoroughly.
ECDA follows a rigorous process for handling alleged child mismanagement incidents, including unannounced visits to preschools, interviews, and record verification.
This incident follows a previous case on August 28, in which a 33-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly ill-treating children at Kinderland’s Woodlands Mart preschool. She is due to be charged in court on August 30 and faces a potential jail term of up to eight years, a fine of up to S$8,000, or both.
