18-8-2023 (YANGON) A perplexing and unidentified ailment has led to the demise of numerous cattle in the northernmost region of Myanmar, Kachin state, according to Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Aung Zan Htwe.
The disconcerting situation came to light when the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department furnished a report outlining the demise of cattle in select villages within Putao township. Acting swiftly, a field assessment team has been dispatched to the affected area to ascertain the gravity of the situation.
Local media outlets have reported that more than 200 cattle have already succumbed to this mysterious ailment within Putao township.
U Aung Zan Htwe elucidated, “As of now, we lack comprehensive information regarding the cattle deaths. The precise tally remains unknown. In the event of fatalities attributed to an ailment, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will dictate vaccination protocols.”
Should the enigmatic nature of the disease persist even after the on-site investigation, the next step will involve subjecting samples to laboratory tests in an earnest effort to uncover the root cause of the affliction.
