26-10-2023 (YANGON) Myanmar’s authorities have conducted a successful operation leading to the seizure of narcotic drugs with an estimated value exceeding 381 million U.S. dollars, as confirmed during a meeting of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC).
The CCDAC’s first gathering for 2023 took place in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, featuring the presence of CCDAC’s Chairman, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, as reported by the state-run daily, The Mirror, on Thursday.
During the meeting, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae emphasized the interconnection between drug trafficking and various illicit activities such as arms smuggling, violence, money laundering, and transnational crimes. He stressed that these issues have significant implications for regional stability.
The Union Minister also underscored Myanmar’s commitment to closely collaborate with various countries and organizations to intensify anti-narcotics efforts.
The haul of seized drugs encompasses a variety of substances, including opium, heroin, stimulant tablets, methamphetamine, Ketamine, ecstasy pills, and Happy Water, as detailed in the media report.
