5-6-2024 (BANGKOK) An 18-year-old murderer has been arrested for the gruesome crime of wrapping up the body of a student and dumping it under the expressway. The suspect, who was found attempting to take wrong medication in a bid to escape, has left the community reeling in disbelief and demanding swift justice.
On June 5, Police Lieutenant Colonel Atchara Katuengngan, Inspector Investigation at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, received a chilling report of a deceased person found in the grass on the side of the road under the Udon Ratthaya Expressway, Village No. 4, Bang Phun Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province.
Responding swiftly, a team comprising Pol. Maj. Gen. Yutthana Jonkhun, commander of the Pathum Thani Provincial Police Department, police officers from Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, investigators from Pathum Thani Province, a forensic doctor from the Ministry of Justice, and staff from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, a harrowing sight greeted the authorities: drops of blood on the road and a pile of trash in the grass on the side of the road opposite a car repair shop, with human organs protruding from a gray cloth. The gravity of the situation became increasingly apparent.
Questioning Mr. Thongdaeng, the 49-year-old owner of the car repair shop, shed light on the events that unfolded the previous night. Thongdaeng recounted how he had slept in his car to watch over customers’ vehicles when he witnessed the suspect pulling grass on the side of the road and attempting to cover something up. The suspect then pulled out a trash can and emptied it, prompting Thongdaeng to confront him and threaten to inform the police.
As the investigation intensified, officials apprehended a male suspect, an 18-year-old student living in a village on Soi Phahonyothin 54/1. Realizing that the authorities were closing in, the suspect made a desperate attempt to take his own life by ingesting medication. However, relatives intervened and coordinated a rescue operation, with the suspect being rushed to Krung Siam St. Carlos Hospital.
