24-1-2025 (SINGAPORE) A major traffic incident involving five vehicles brought morning rush hour traffic to a standstill on the Seletar Expressway (SLE) yesterday, resulting in five individuals requiring hospital treatment.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:45 am near the Tampines Expressway (TPE) entrance, along the stretch heading towards the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). The incident caused significant disruption, blocking all lanes of the carriageway.
Eyewitness footage shared on social media platforms revealed extensive damage to several vehicles, with a white van bearing the brunt of the impact. The van’s passenger compartment sustained severe structural damage, with visible deformation and a shattered windscreen.
Among those injured were a 29-year-old motorcyclist, a 65-year-old car driver, a 62-year-old truck driver, and two lorry passengers aged 41 and 49. All casualties were conscious when emergency services arrived at the scene and were subsequently transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for medical attention, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Police reports indicate that the vehicles involved included a dump truck, a goods truck, a motorcycle, a lorry, and a private car. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
This marks the second significant multi-vehicle incident on this stretch of the SLE in recent weeks. On 20 December, a four-vehicle pile-up occurred at approximately 9:55 pm, resulting in four hospitalisations. Investigations into that incident are ongoing, with a 34-year-old lorry driver assisting police with their enquiries.
