18-2-2024 (BANGKOK) The Move Forward Party (MFP) took to social media on Sunday to address growing concerns among the public regarding the illness and parole of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Many have questioned whether the law is being enforced with fairness and without discrimination.
The main opposition party posed the question on Facebook following Thaksin’s discharge from Police General Hospital early Sunday morning.
In their post, the MFP highlighted the skepticism among many people regarding the potential special treatment given to Thaksin during his 180-day stay at the hospital without clear information about his illness, and his subsequent parole.
While the government has provided answers regarding Thaksin’s health and the criteria for his parole, it has not been able to dispel society’s concerns about equal application of the law and fair treatment in comparison to other incarcerated individuals and political prisoners.
The MFP emphasized the importance of a society free from double standards, urging that Thai society must strive for consistency and fairness in law enforcement.
