5-7-2024 (SINGAPORE) A 20-year-old motorcyclist found himself at the center of a harrowing ordeal that unfolded along the busy Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on July 4th. According to the Singapore Police Force, the young rider’s refusal to comply with a routine traffic stop escalated into a high-stakes pursuit and a physical altercation that left onlookers stunned.
The incident took a dramatic turn when, at approximately 3:45 pm, a traffic police officer attempted to conduct a routine check on the motorcyclist as he approached the Bukit Panjang Road exit. Defying the officer’s lawful instructions, the rider made the brazen decision to accelerate and speed off, setting in motion a perilous chain of events.
As the chase ensued, the motorcyclist’s fate took an unexpected turn when he lost control and “self-skidded” at the intersection of Petir Road and Gangsa Road. In a shocking display of resistance, the rider was then captured on camera wrestling with a traffic police officer along a pedestrian walkway, oblivious to the stunned onlookers, including children, who witnessed the unfolding struggle.
The tense standoff reached its climax as an auxiliary police officer rushed to assist the beleaguered traffic officer. Faced with the overwhelming presence of law enforcement, the motorcyclist’s defiance finally waned, and he submitted, slumping to the ground in apparent resignation.

In the aftermath of the dramatic arrest, eyewitness accounts and viral videos painted a vivid picture of the scene. One video, purportedly circulating on WhatsApp, depicted the motorcyclist handcuffed and surrounded by at least six police officers, a testament to the gravity of the situation.
As the dust settled, the motorcyclist’s plight took a further turn when he was conveyed to the hospital in an ambulance, with at least four police vehicles in tow, as captured in a photo shared on the Telegram group chat SGRoad Blocks/Traffic News.
Singapore Police Force confirmed that the motorcyclist was arrested for a litany of offenses, including dangerous driving, other traffic-related violations, and suspected drug-related offences. The latter allegations have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for further investigation.
