16-8-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) The police are poised to seize additional assets linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, following the testimony of Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, a former general counsel for 1MDB. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that these assets would be forfeited to the government through a legal process.
“Jasmine Loo is currently under police custody at the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department for questioning related to money laundering,” he stated during the launch of the PDRM Madani Ride and Ipoh Super Bike Club (ISBC) event, held in conjunction with the 216th Police Day and National Month at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre on Wednesday (Aug 16).
A convoy consisting of 150 high-powered motorcycle riders from the PDRM and ISBC embarked on a six-day journey across Peninsular Malaysia and South Thailand.
Razarudin further revealed that once the police investigation is concluded, Loo will be handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Loo, a former strategic executive director of 1MDB, is believed to have been closely associated with fugitive businessman Jho Low and possesses crucial information pertaining to the 1MDB scandal.
