29-12-2023 (HANOI) A mobile phone explosion in Tuyen Quang Province, Vietnam, resulted in a couple sustaining severe burns. The explosion, occurring while their phones were charging bedside, led to sparks igniting nearby quilts, causing extensive injuries to the victims.
The couple, whose identities remain undisclosed, suffered burns to their faces, arms, and legs, with the affected areas ranging from 10% to 20%. The gravity of the injuries prompted an immediate rush to the emergency room, where they received preliminary treatment. Presently, the patients are in stable condition, but medical professionals anticipate a prolonged recovery period.
Medical experts at the local Hung Vuong General Hospital, where the couple is now under care, emphasized the importance of caution during mobile phone usage and charging. They advised the public to avoid using phones while charging and to keep a safe distance from both crowds and flammable objects during the charging process.
This incident adds to a concerning trend in Vietnam, where accidents related to mobile phone charging and explosions have become more frequent. Earlier in August, a woman in Loc An District, Bac Giang Province, suffered injuries to her hands, a broken right eyeball, and facial injuries when her phone exploded while in use during charging. Similarly, in June, a boy in Shih Thanh District, Thanh Hoa Province, was electrocuted while charging his mobile phone.
