11-8-2024 (SINGAPORE) A 55-year-old man who had been reported missing on Wednesday was discovered unconscious and subsequently pronounced dead in Singapore’s Lavender district on Thursday afternoon.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) revealed that they received a report of the man’s disappearance at 4pm on Wednesday. Following an extensive search, the individual was located the next day, found unresponsive in a vehicle parked at 861 North Bridge Road.
Responding to the discovery, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) dispatched emergency personnel to the scene after receiving a call for assistance at 1:30pm on Thursday. Upon arrival, an SCDF paramedic pronounced the man deceased at the location.
Eyewitnesses reported a significant police presence at the carpark where the man was found. A photograph circulated on social media, shared by the Singapore Roads Accident.com Facebook page, depicted several police officers at the scene, with what appeared to be a body wrapped in a white plastic sheet visible on the ground near the officers.
In a statement addressing the incident, an SPF spokesperson said, “Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.” However, they emphasised that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
This unfortunate incident has drawn comparisons to a similar case that occurred in the vicinity last year. In 2022, a 71-year-old taxi driver was found motionless in his vehicle at 10 North Bridge Road, not far from the current incident’s location. The driver was also pronounced dead at the scene.
