6-10-2023 (LONDON) In many beauty pageants, contestants are only required to go makeup-free for a specific segment. However, the 2023 Miss London beauty pageant took a different approach, as every participating woman was required to compete entirely makeup-free, showcasing their natural beauty throughout the competition.
This marked the first time in the United Kingdom that a beauty pageant introduced an all-natural, makeup-free segment since 1995. Organizers stated that this initiative is a first not only in the UK but also globally.
The goal behind the makeup-free segment was to empower women, boost their confidence, promote a more genuine body image, and highlight the beauty of natural appearances.
The crown eventually went to 26-year-old Natasha Beresford, who began her career as a dental nurse at the Royal Dental Hospital in London in 2021 and has since transitioned to a private dental clinic in Chiswick.
Natasha will now advance to the Miss United Kingdom final, scheduled to take place later this year. She will be joined by runner-up Afrose Ameen (23, hailing from Lewisham), Temi Adeyemi (26, from Enfield, Middlesex), and 17-year-old Alanta Richards from Surrey.
The winner of the public vote was Lauren Malone, a 26-year-old company founder and CEO, who will join the other four women in the Miss United Kingdom final.
