18-12-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, the renowned Malaysian born actress, fulfilled her promise to her mother, Datin Janet Yeoh, by hosting a celebratory wedding banquet in her hometown of Ipoh to mark her marriage to Jean Todt.
In an earlier interview with China Press, the 84-year-old Janet expressed her disappointment at not being informed about her daughter’s wedding in Geneva, Switzerland. She had suggested a separate wedding banquet in Malaysia.
On Sunday, December 17, the Oscar-winning actress organized a modest and intimate wedding banquet at a local restaurant in Ipoh. The exclusive ceremony saw the attendance of approximately 100 guests, predominantly close relatives and friends, as reported by Sin Chew Daily.
Michelle Yeoh, 61, donned a sleeveless aquamarine top paired with lime green pants, while her husband, Jean Todt, 77, chose a casual all-black ensemble. Photos shared online depicted the lively ambiance of the event, with guests indulging in delicacies such as barbecued lamb and satay.
At the entrance of the restaurant, a poster featuring Yeoh’s 1997 Bond movie, “Tomorrow Never Dies,” was displayed, with Todt’s image superimposed on Pierce Brosnan’s face. The poster carried the inscription: “Love Never Dies, A Jean Todt and Michelle Yeoh production, Thursday, July 27, 2023.”
Additionally, another poster showcased the couple’s wedding invitation originally sent to guests in Geneva. The invitation featured a handwritten note highlighting that December 17 marked 7,135 days since the couple’s first meeting in Shanghai, China, on June 4, 2004.
Jean Todt proposed to Michelle Yeoh on July 26, 2004, after a month and a half of dating, and the couple officially tied the knot on July 27.
