30-12-2024 (BANGKOK) A catastrophic structural failure at a Thai automotive components factory has resulted in the deaths of five workers when a massive mezzanine floor collapsed during relocation works on Monday.
The devastating incident unfolded at approximately 9:35 AM at the Thai Yanagawa Co facility, situated within the Rojana Industrial Park in Sri Maha Phot district’s Tha Tum sub-district. According to local emergency response officials, the workers were in the process of relocating a substantial concrete mezzanine structure when the tragedy occurred.
The ill-fated platform, measuring an impressive 20 metres by 20 metres, came crashing down after its supporting steel framework became unstable. Witnesses reported that the structure suddenly tilted before plummeting 2.5 metres onto the workers positioned below.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where rescue teams faced the grim task of breaking through the collapsed concrete floor and debris to recover the bodies of the deceased workers.
