29-6-2023 (CHARLOTTE) A Delta Airlines flight was compelled to make an emergency landing at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in North Carolina due to mechanical issues.
Flight 1092 touched down around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday without its nose gear, according to airport officials.
Eyewitnesses reported that the airplane remained on the runway for several hours. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and passengers were transported to a terminal via buses.
One passenger, speaking to WBTV, mentioned that passengers were allowed to disembark the aircraft, but personal belongings such as suitcases and carry-on bags were not permitted to be removed as the Federal Aviation Administration had the plane under its control.
Delta confirmed that the plane carried two pilots, three flight attendants, and 96 customers at the time of landing.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting an investigation into the incident.
In response to the emergency landing, Delta issued the following statement:
“The safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. While rare, Delta flight crews undergo extensive training to effectively manage various scenarios, and flight 1092 landed safely without any reported injuries.”
The aircraft had departed from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta before arriving in Charlotte.
