26-6-2023 (MANILA) The Philippine government has taken swift action to evacuate a staggering 92,319 individuals from three flood-stricken towns in south-central Mindanao, according to a statement released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday.
The towns of Kabacan and Pikit in Cotabato province, as well as Glan in Sarangani province, have been grappling with incessant rainfall over the past week, resulting in widespread flooding that has affected a total of 19,124 families.
As of Monday, 251 families have found temporary shelter in Glan, where the local government has responded swiftly by providing them with relief goods, including essential food packs. This immediate assistance aims to alleviate the hardship faced by those displaced by the floods.
