25-10-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A shocking incident unfolded near a school in Sibu, Sarawak, when a man was shot while waiting in his car during school pickup hours. The brazen attack occurred around 2:30 PM along Jalan Wong King Huo, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The victim, a man in his forties, was seated in the driver’s seat when an unidentified assailant approached his vehicle and fired a single shot before fleeing the scene. Initial investigations suggest the perpetrator took advantage of the lowered passenger window to carry out the attack, with the bullet striking the victim in the right side of his back before shattering the windscreen.
Witnesses, primarily students and parents gathered for after-school pickup, initially mistook the gunshot for a car accident or burst tyre. The wounded man managed to open his car door seeking help but collapsed in nearby vegetation due to his injuries.
A local man who discovered the victim immediately alerted both police and medical services. Emergency responders swiftly transported the injured man to hospital for urgent treatment, while family members rushed to the scene.
Assistant Commissioner Zulkiflee, the Sibu District Police Chief, confirmed the incident and stated that a full investigation is underway. The victim remains under medical care as authorities work to establish the motive behind this disturbing attack.
