20-3-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A car owner in Kuala Kedah accidentally caused the death of a thief while trying to escape from three assailants attempting to rob him. The car owner, in a state of fear, accelerated his vehicle, resulting in a collision with one of the robbers and ultimately causing his demise.
The incident unfolded at approximately 6:39 am on March 19 in front of a pharmacy in Kuala Kedah. The car owner was suddenly confronted by three suspects riding on two motorcycles. According to the Kota Setar District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner, Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir, one of the suspects used a stick to strike the car’s windscreen, shattering it.
Acting out of fear, the car owner swiftly accelerated his vehicle in an attempt to escape from the robbers. Unfortunately, in the process of evading the criminals, he collided with one of the suspects’ motorcycles, which was positioned in front of him, seemingly trying to block his escape route.
Tragically, the collision proved fatal for the 29-year-old suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The two remaining suspects managed to flee the scene, prompting an active search operation by the authorities with the help of witnesses present during the incident.
In a surprising turn of events, the police have initiated a parallel investigation into the car owner, treating him as a suspect in the case of the suspect’s death. The car owner, who was the victim of the attempted robbery, now faces allegations of murder. Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir confirmed that two investigation papers have been opened simultaneously. One is under Section 302 of the Penal Code, pertaining to the car owner, while the other is under Section 393 of the Penal Code, relating to the two suspects who are still at large.
