13-9-2023 (JAKARTA) In a tragic incident resulting from a domestic dispute, a man in West Java, Indonesia, allegedly killed his wife by slashing her throat with a kitchen knife. The motive behind the horrific act was said to be emotional distress and financial issues.
The incident occurred late last Thursday (September 7) night in Cikarang Sub-district, Karawang Regency, West Java, but the victim’s body was not discovered until two days later.
According to Inspector Saifuddin Hasan, head of the West Java Regional Police’s criminal investigation unit, the 25-year-old suspect, identified as NKW, had brought his 24-year-old wife, MSD, back to their rented home from her parents’ house on the day of the incident. It was there that he allegedly used a kitchen knife to sever her neck, resulting in her immediate death.
“After the victim’s death, the suspect took her to the bathroom to clean the body and then placed it on the bed, covering it with a green blanket,” Inspector Saifuddin Hasan revealed.
He added that the suspect had also cleaned the bloodstains at the bathroom entrance and disposed of the victim’s blood-soaked clothing.
The couple had two children, aged three and a half years and one and a half years, who were present in the house at the time of the incident. The suspect reportedly sent them to their grandmother’s house for care on the following day (September 8).
On the subsequent day (September 9), the victim’s parents visited the couple’s rented home with their grandchildren. After receiving no response to their repeated knocks on the door, they used a key from the shoe rack to enter the house. There, they made the horrifying discovery of the victim’s lifeless body. Simultaneously, the suspect, accompanied by his parents, surrendered to the police.
The suspect initially expressed confusion and remorse following the crime, confiding in his parents about the gruesome act. It was his parents who took him to the police station to confess. An investigation by the authorities revealed that the couple had frequent arguments, and the suspect’s actions were driven by emotional pain and financial difficulties, leading him to take his wife’s life.
