29-3-2024 (BANGKOK) In a late-night altercation on Thursday, March 28th, authorities in Pattaya detained a Thai man for erratic behaviour and attempting to stab a municipality officer.
The Pattaya City Special Affairs Radio Center was alerted to the situation at 12:06 AM and swiftly dispatched officers to the scene, located at the flyover on Sukhumvit Road near the entrance of the Father Ray Foundation.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a Thai man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, exhibiting erratic behaviour and speaking incoherently. Dressed in a football shirt and shorts, the man’s identity remained undisclosed at the time. Reports indicated that during the attempt to apprehend him, he wielded a sharp weapon in an effort to stab an officer. Subsequently, he was escorted to the Pattaya Police Station to de-escalate the situation.
Special Affairs Officer Kittiphan Bunchat revealed that concerned citizens had contacted authorities, reporting the individual’s attempts to assault passersby on the street. Mr. Bunchat narrowly avoided being stabbed during the altercation.
