9-12-2023 (JAKARTA) Police in Indonesia have apprehended a man believed to be responsible for the murder of his four young children before attempting to take his own life.
The bodies of the children, aged between one and six years old, were discovered on December 6th on a single bed inside their rented home in the Jagakarsa district of South Jakarta, according to reports from Jakarta Globe.
During their investigation, authorities came across a note that read: “Puas Bunda (satisfied mom), tx for all.”
Superintendent Bintoro, the head of the criminal investigation unit of South Jakarta Police, revealed that the children’s father was found naked inside a bathroom with self-inflicted wounds and a knife in his hand.
“The suspect, who is the father of the victims, had made a suicide attempt and is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital,” stated Supt Bintoro.
According to Jakarta Globe, the suspect had allegedly assaulted his wife, who is the mother of the children, on December 2nd. The assault was so severe that the woman had to be taken to a hospital, leaving her children alone with their father.
“The wife had visible bruises on her forehead and vomited blood,” said Ms. Titin Rohmah, a neighbor who witnessed the aftermath of the assault.
Another neighbor recalled seeing the suspect carrying one of his children on December 3rd.
South Jakarta Police Chief Ade Ary Syam Indradi revealed that the suspect had been taken into custody for questioning after the assault on his wife. However, he was later released as he claimed there was no one else available to care for his children.
