19-2-2024 (SINGAPORE) A man recently claimed to have witnessed another individual killing a chicken in broad daylight at a park in Singapore. Disturbed by the sight, he shared his experience on the Nature Society Singapore Facebook group on February 17th.
The man, identified as Mr. Lee, uploaded a series of images capturing the alleged sequence of events. The photos show a man wearing a blue t-shirt and Bermudas, holding a chicken in one hand as he walks along a pathway. He then turns towards an area where he purportedly proceeds to kill the chicken. The final photo shows the man sitting on a grass patch with the chicken lying in front of him, as he places both hands on the animal. In his Facebook caption, Mr. Lee claimed that he witnessed the man kill the chicken and questioned the legality of the act, calling for action from the authorities.
The Facebook post quickly gained attention, with many netizens urging Mr. Lee to report the incident to the authorities. While it was not explicitly stated whether the chicken was free-roaming, one commenter assuming so urged Mr. Lee to intervene to prevent the man from harming other animals. Another commenter speculated that the alleged culprit might be unaware of animal protection laws in Singapore and suggested that Mr. Lee submit the images to NParks through the OneService app. Under Singaporean law, first-time offenders who harm animals can face fines of up to S$10,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
