3-11-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Malaysia’s Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, has expressed her desire to adopt a toddler she fondly referred to as “a child from heaven.” This decision followed her meeting with the two-year-old girl, Missclyen Roland, during a visit to Sarawak. Missclyen was born with excessive facial and upper body hair and without nostrils.
Tunku Azizah also offered to cover the child’s school expenses and medical treatment. In a letter dated Oct 10 addressed to Missclyen’s parents, the Queen stated, “I hope that this assistance will alleviate the burden on Missclyen’s father in providing care and raising her.”
Missclyen’s mother, Theresa Guntin, who is 29 years old, shared the letter on Facebook, describing the offer as “a big honour.” She expressed her hope that “everything will go well” for her daughter.
Roland Jimbai, the 49-year-old father of four, was moved to tears of happiness when he read the Queen’s letter. He stated that he did not expect their brief meeting with the royal couple to lead to such a significant gesture.
Mr. Roland, who works as a welder, hopes that life will improve for his youngest child, especially concerning her health and education. He mentioned that his family had previously faced social stigma due to Missclyen’s appearance and condition but believes that her life will be different now.
Missclyen was diagnosed with congenital generalised hypertrichosis, a rare condition characterized by excessive hair growth all over the body, sometimes referred to as “werewolf syndrome.” Additionally, she was born without nostrils.
Her father expressed the hope of meeting the royal couple again and described Missclyen as “Princess Missclyen,” emphasizing the newfound respect she would receive because the Queen is adopting her.
The family had waited for five hours to meet the King and Queen, whom they had previously seen only on television and social media. Their patience was rewarded when the royal couple took pictures with Missclyen, and the Queen carried and hugged the child, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
