17-9-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A Malaysian woman’s distress call for help at a food carnival in Petaling Jaya (PJ) has garnered attention after a netizen named Hazrul shared the incident on TikTok. In the viral video, Hazrul captured the woman making the recognized “Signal for Help” gesture, indicating that she was silently seeking assistance.
The woman, with her left hand facing Hazrul, repeated the gesture multiple times and made eye contact with him, leaving little doubt about her plea for help. Hazrul also noticed visible bruises on her face, suggesting that she may have been a victim of domestic abuse.
Moved by her distress, Hazrul swiftly took action. He immediately called the police and sought the assistance of the festival organizers and a vendor to intervene and separate the woman from her boyfriend, who was identified as wearing a white-and-red striped t-shirt. Thankfully, several individuals rallied to their aid and successfully prevented the woman’s boyfriend from leaving, despite his aggressive behavior.
The police swiftly responded to the scene and promptly arrested the boyfriend. As the events unfolded, Hazrul had an opportunity to speak with the woman, who shed light on her harrowing situation. She revealed that her boyfriend, a drug addict, had subjected her to physical abuse, including restraining her and scalding her with hot water.
In a subsequent video update, Hazrul shared that he was summoned to the police station to provide a statement regarding the incident. He also disclosed that the woman’s boyfriend had been remanded for two days, emphasizing the gravity of the charges against him.
Furthermore, Hazrul managed to establish contact with the woman’s father, who expressed his gratitude to Hazrul and all those who came to his daughter’s aid during the distressing incident.
