24-9-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Malaysian singer Haezee found herself at the centre of an unexpected romantic rumour involving Taiwanese American superstar Wang Leehom. The misunderstanding stemmed from a seemingly innocuous group photo posted on Instagram by fellow musician Will Pan on Sunday, 22 September.
The image, which featured Pan, Haezee, Leehom, and Taiwanese singer Chen Linong, was captioned by Pan as “league of legends”, playfully adding that all the food visible was for him. Little did he know that this casual snapshot would spark a flurry of speculation about Leehom’s love life.
As the photo circulated, garnering over 22,600 likes, curious netizens began to question the identity of the woman seated next to Leehom. Some jumped to conclusions, with one Instagram user boldly claiming, “She is Leehom’s new girlfriend.” This assertion quickly gained traction, forcing fans to step in and set the record straight.

One astute follower attempted to quell the rumours, explaining, “The girl next to Leehom is a Malaysian female singer who performed at a music festival with them. Don’t make accusations whenever you see a girl, please.” Despite these efforts, the speculation persisted, prompting Leehom’s management team to issue a formal statement denying any romantic involvement between the two artists.
The photo in question was taken during the Yi Ke Yin Xiong Lian Super Concert in Guiyang, China, where all four performers had participated on 20 September. The event, held at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Centre, also featured Chinese singer Tia Ray in its star-studded lineup.
For those unfamiliar with Haezee, the 32-year-old is making significant waves in the music industry. Described as a new-generation singer-songwriter, she was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the prestigious 33rd Golden Melody Awards in 2022. Her talent has not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by her win in the Singapore and Malaysia Region Promising New Voice category at the 15th Freshmusic Awards.
Interestingly, Haezee shares an educational background with Leehom, both having attended the renowned Berklee College of Music. While Leehom received an honorary doctorate from the institution, Haezee is a proud graduate, further cementing her credentials in the music world.
The Malaysian artist’s journey to stardom includes participation in a talent show programme six years ago, where she formed a group with Taiwanese rapper-singer J.Sheon. Her recent performance alongside established stars like Leehom and Will Pan is a testament to her rising status in the Asian music scene.
For his part, Wang Leehom, often hailed as one of the Kings of Mandarin Pop, has been gradually rebuilding his public image following a highly publicised divorce scandal in 2021. After a year-long hiatus, he made a comeback in February 2022, releasing new music and slowly reintegrating into the public eye through television appearances and events.
